Calabar carnival

NIGERIA, the giant of africa has been a victim of negative press and
criticisim for a long time now.A lot of people all over the world
believe Nigeria has nothing to offer.

They are so wrong.

You are about to be blown away by the rich tourist experience Cross
River state and Calabar has to offer.

Cross River State and Calabar,it's capital, is loacted in the south
eastern part of Nigeria and is reputed to be the most peaceful and
cleanest city in Nigeria.

Even as the state is located near the restive Niger Delta ,there have
been no case of kidnapping and other negative vices usually associated
with the region.

The Calabar chrismas carnival was created as part of the vision of
making the State the number one tourist destination for Nigerians and
tourist all over the world.

The Calabar Carnival has come a long way..it all started 4 years ago
when the then governor of Cross River State,Mr Dolald Duke ,had a
vision of making his state the hub for tourism and hospitality in
Nigerian and in Africa.

Leveraging on the existence of the natural and manmade tourist
attraction,his visions has grown and has becomed a reality.

Cross River and Calabar is now the pride of Nigeria or Africa as far
as tourism,carnival and hospitality is concerned.

The Calabar carnival is now dubbed -Africa's biggest street party-this
is completely discriptive of the carnival because of level of
activities and personalities that usually attend the carnival.

For 4 years running,the Calabar Carnival has been grown bigger and better.

program of activities usually start weeks before the Carnival proper
that usually holds from the 27th of December.It usually has 4 bands
competing for the converted 1st prize.

Before the carnival proper,programes like choral competitions,boat
regatta and more usually hold to wet and prepare the holiday seekers
for the STREET PARTY.

Also during the festive period,top musicians in Nigerian and the world
usually entertain the people and visitors of Calabar.

Over the last 4 years international artist like,the late
LuckyDube, Akon,Fat Joe,Joe,young Jeezy,Nelly,Kirk Franklin,and many
more has thrilled the large crowd of calabarians and tourist from
Nigeria and tourist from outside the country.

Apart from the carnival,Cross River state boast of a Ranch resort
-Obudu Cattle Ranch ,which has the longest cable car in the world and
is the venue for the highest paying moutain race prize money in the
whole world.
